New Mobile Dental Hygiene Clinic at Le King David

On December 13th, we are featuring a presentation, for residents only, at Le King David, by Nancy Leung, RDH. She is a Registered Dental Hygienist, a qualified practitioner and member of the OHDQ (Dental Hygiene Order of Quebec) as well as the CDHA (Dental Hygiene Order of Canada).

The topic of Ms. Leung’s presentation to residents relates to the importance of dental hygiene among seniors. She asks, “Did you know, good oral hygiene can reduce your risk of serious disease and perhaps preserve your memory?” Scientific evidenc demonstrates that decayed teeth and gum disease not only is associated with bad breath but can affect your quality of life. With a healthy mouth you can eat better, sleep better and concentrate with no aches and pains in your mouth to distract you.

As an oral health care provider, she specializes in the prevention, treatment and disorders of the teeth and gums. Since Sept. 2020, when certified dental hygienists were granted autonomous status, there is greater access to dental hygiene services without having to go to the dental office. Available services are: plaque & tartar removal, teeth polishing, denture maintenance, nutritional recommendations, oral hygiene education & referral to a reputable dentist, if needed.

To facilitate our residents, starting in January, Ms. Leung will be available, by appointment, on premises at Le King David.

Third party services have become very popular at Le King David and serve to greatly facilitate residents especially in months in which weather conditions makes city-wide travel difficult for seniors. Also, recently launched, we host a monthly audiology clinic offering a free cleaning of hearing aids and assessments of residents’ ears among other services preformed by licensed audiologist, Joanna Meyer.

Other 3rd party services, on premises, include: Foot Care, Hairdresser, Mobile Denturist, Doctor (weekly), and Pharmacy. These are among the many features that make Le King David stand out among other senior living residences, across the region.
